Manchester Worker Bees - One Year On

It seems there’s a lot going on this weekend, what with a Royal Wedding and FA Cup Final taking place this Saturday it looks like it’s going to be a busy one!

This weekend also marks the one year anniversary of the launch of our Manchester Worker Bee collection which has proved to be our best-selling range over the past 12 months!

Next week also sees the anniversary of another event which doesn’t hold such happy memories but certainly needs to be remembered. Tuesday 22nd May marks a whole year since 22 people sadly lost their lives in the atrocious attack at the Manchester Arena during an Ariana Grande concert.

I don’t know of a single person in Manchester that wasn’t affected in some way by the terrible events that night, the whole city was shaken to its core but something very positive did come out of it. The city and its people pulled together and fought back. People queued to get Bee tattoos, street art appeared across the city and a carpet of flowers and tributes appeared in St Ann’s Square. Millions of pounds were raised; people from near and far generously donated their hard-earned cash to help the victims’ families and those directly affected by the blast and it made me so proud of the city I call home.

Here at Honey Bee Design, with our Manchester Worker Bee necklace only launched days earlier, we found the best way to help was to donate all the profits from necklace sales during June. We were blown away with orders and support from the people of Manchester and beyond – even receiving orders from the USA! In total we raised an incredible £768 which went straight to the Red Cross’ We Love Manchester Emergency appeal.
